The Department of Children and Families is the state agency charged with the responsibility of protecting children from abuse and/or neglect. DCF’s goal is to keep children at home, and to support families so that everyone is safe and healthy. However, if a child is in immediate danger, DCF has the authority to remove him or her from their home. DCF is looking for families that can provide safe homes and compassionate foster parents for children who are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or dangerous conditions. DCF has children of all ages in foster care, from infants to older adolescents, and from all ethnic and economic backgrounds. Please come Wednesday, May 13th, as we hear Lori share about the work of the DCF and the need for foster families throughout the state to open their homes to a foster child.
